The Beauty of Medical Aesthetics

Updated: Oct 13, 2020

So what exactly is Medical Aesthetics?

It's a very broad term that describes specialist treatments that alter cosmetic appearance.

Smoothing wrinkles, adjusting facial proportions, balancing asymmetry, filling scars, improving skin firmness and reducing laxity. Treatments can reduce pigmentation and pigmentation, reduce sweating, treat spider veins and remove unwanted hair.

These procedures can improve the satisfaction of the client with their physical appearance. They are non-invasive or minimally invasive treatments. This means the 'down time' post treatment is short and life can continue without interruption.

Aesthetics

Aesthetic means the pleasant, positive or artful appearance of a person or thing. An aesthetician is a artist. This is where the skill of your practitioner is essential. Aesthetic medicine is very much an artform. Knowing where volume is needed to sculpt a beautiful shape.

These aesthetic treatments are temporary with results lasting from 3-18 months, depending on the procedure and product used. This means that if your preferences change, I can accommodate that. I can adjust your treatment pathway according to your needs over time. What's right for you now, may well be different in a few year's time. It also means that you are able to try new products as they evolve.

Most of these procedures such as dermal fillers, require medical knowledge of the anatomy to be carried out safely. Wrinkle relaxation requires neurotoxins. Medical aesthetics can use more potent and effective products than many salon treatments. This is the difference between beauty treatments and medical aesthetics.
